Spruce Up America

Tree Planting Project in Preble Park

The Preble Town board has given their approval to participate in the Cortland County Soil and Water Conservation District’s Spruce Up America program which brings community groups and school students together to improve the environment. The Preble Garden Club, acting as lead community group for Preble and Homer High School, representing our school partner, together with interested community members, have decided to use this program to plant trees in Preble Park.

We are very excited about this opportunity to improve our park by planting a spruce and fir hedge along the eastern boundary of the park that will act as a sound barrier to I-81 and by planting three larger deciduous trees at each of the two playground areas to provide shade for children while they play.

All are welcome to come in support of this project or to participate in the planting.
